This symposium is intended as a unifying event that will explore the evolution of forest management, focus on possible future avenues for our forests and define what roles modern forestry will play in our society. This seminar is also intended as a networking opportunity for professionals and will allow for the establishment of links, and possibly new collaboration partnerships between the various stakeholders of the large territory of Acadia of the Lands and Forests.

According to the event coordinator, Mr. Daniel Gautreau, this forestry symposium will bring together the best minds in the forestry sector to enable participants to deepen their knowledge in various fields of forestry: "We will have the privilege of welcoming among us more than 22 experts in their respective fields. This important forestry event will allow participants to exchange the latest knowledge regarding forest management, on advanced technology and on new forest products. A special focus will also be placed on the important challenges faced and possible solutions associated with the marketing of certain timber and non-timber forest products."
This symposium will also examine four major themes related to forests and their management, including: precision forestry, forest biomass, maple syrup production and non-timber forest products, as well as new forest products. By exploring these issues, the proposed forest event will allow participants to deepen their knowledge on topics and issues of concern to the world of forestry. In addition to the 22 lecturers who will share their knowledge during the two-day symposium, we note the participation of Senator Percy Mockler, Chair of the permanent Senate committee on Agriculture and Forestry, as distinguished speaker, as well as Mr. Jean-Claude Savoie, President of Groupe Savoie and Chancellor of the Université de Moncton as keynote speaker.
"The forest industry is one of the economic backbones that characterize the three regions of Acadia of the Lands and Forests. That is why it is essential that forestry be showcased in the seminars and conferences component of the Congrès mondial acadien 2014. Thanks to the expertise of the École de foresterie of the Université de Moncton's Edmundston campus, who leads this project, we are certain that the forest industry will have the spotlight it deserves within this 5th Congrès mondial acadien!" said Mr. Émilien Nadeau, President of the CMA 2014.
