Only 30 Days Left to Book your Lodging Accommodations

In fact, the last survey done in June revealed that owners of camping sites, hotels, motels, inns and cottages disclosed the availability rate at 55% on average on the territory for the 17-day celebrations.  As expected, the occupancy rate increases slightly during pillar days such as the official opening in Edmundston (NB) on August 8th, the Fête nationale de l’Acadie in Madawaska (ME) on August 15th and the Nouveau Départ ceremonies in Témiscouata-sur-le-lac (QC) on August 24th

The current situation differs from last spring where certain lodging establishments were full for specific dates during the CMA 2014.  The organization is not surprised by this occurrence because for events of this magnitude, tour operators will block a number of rooms in advance and later release nights they no longer require, either 14, 30 or 60 days prior to the event.  Consequently, the organization felt it was important to be provided with a status report on the availability of accommodations a few weeks prior to the CMA.

However, a unique situation is taking place in Madawaska (ME) and its vicinity on August 14th and 15th : the occupancy rate is close to 100 % because of a lower number of available lodging establishments.  The situation can still change; however to this day, there are available rooms in other municipalities in Maine as well as on the Canadian side.

“We are pleased to know that there are still affordable rooms available for visitors who will not be staying with relatives during family reunions.  We are also delighted to see that many residents have opened their homes to visitors.  Moreover, we certainly hope that our lodging establishments will be booked solid in August for the CMA”, stated Léo Paul Charest, Executive Director of the CMA 2014.  Mr. Charest also wants to inform all visitors and their families to book their lodging accommodations as soon as possible.

In order to expedite the search process for people interested in joining the celebrations of Acadia of the World, the CMA 2014 offers two on-line directories allowing users to consult either by city, town or village, the commercial or private lodging establishments on the entire territory of Acadia of the Lands and Forests.  People wishing to consult the directories can do so at www.hebergement.cma2014.com.
