Start of a new beginning in economic development after the CMA 2014 !

Edmundston (N-B) - August 23rd – It is with true optimism that today we ended the Economic Summit organized for the Congrès mondial acadien 2014. Close to 200 business people – economic and politic actors from the region of Acadia of the Forests and Lands, the entire Acadia, as well as Canadian and international Francophonie – participated to the fruitful exchanges and discussions aiming to facilitate economic trades, to review the work that went into the preparation of the CMA 2014 and to prepare for the economic impact of this great unifying event.

The peak of the Summit was the adoption, by a group formed of about forty leaders of Acadia of the Forests and Lands, of a declaration marking the start of a new beginning in economic development for the region. The declaration aimed, notably, to ensure that the drive and momentum created by the Congrès mondial acadien 2014 remain active and lasting in regard to community partnership for the economic development through a cross-border cooperation project that will engage the communities from the whole region.

"We envision achieving a spirit of collaboration on the entire territory in order to contribute to the economic development and to the creation of employment opportunities for our children and grandchildren in a strong and thriving economy. In this respect, I am very pleased to see that the declaration adopted at the end of this summit expresses the desire of our men and women to engage themselves in pursuing this vision.", stated Mr Émilien Nadeau, President of the Congrès mondial acadien 2014.

"We have always been motivated by a desire to see the borders as opportunities instead of boundaries. The exchanges we had during this summit made us progress. We actively contributed to strengthen the ties between economic actors and – above all – we also formalized a true commitment from our communities to take charge of their development and to face challenges with confidence." noted the acting Economic Component Coordinator, Katherine Cyr.
