The boundaries of Acadie are defined by its symbols. The National Acadian Day is an emblematic figure of the Acadian people. In Acadia of the lands and forests, this element will be showcased this summer during this year’s National Acadian Day celebrations. Through this foretaste of the Congrès mondial acadien 2014, three days of celebrations will be held on the entire territory of Acadia of the lands and forests.

The festivities of the National Acadian Day will be launched on August 9th, in Madawaska, Maine, where the public will witness an authentic tintamarre, a parade of grosses têtes, local talents and a concert of the band Slippery Sneakers. Acadians of Maine invite us to discover the Acadian identity in America.

On August 15th, the site of Festival Western de Saint-Quentin will sing-along to the sound of l’Acadie with the pre-congress event Carte blanche à l’Acadie. This free show of the National Acadian Day will be presented for the first time in Acadia of the lands and forests and broadcasted by Radio-Canada.

On August 16th, the celebrations move towards the city of Dégelis, which will present the Témiscouata flavors of l’Acadie with a tintamarre throughout the city, a community supper where all are invited and a concert of the Acadian-québécois band Manuel Castilloux et les méchants jambons.
