Edmundston (NB) – Today, at 365 days from the 2014 celebrations, the Congrès mondial acadien 2014 launched its preliminary programming for the 5th Congrès mondial acadien. This major event, which will be held from August 8 to 24, 2014 in Acadia of the Lands and Forests, will hold activities for everyone.

The programming counts a bit more than 40 pages and presents details for the event’s three Pillar days: the Opening ceremonies on August 8 in Edmundston, New Brunswick, the National Acadian day on August 15 in Madawaska, Maine, and the New Beginning ceremonies in Témiscouata-sur-le-Lac, Québec.

The programming also includes information on the 118 family reunions registered up to date, the Multimedia installation, the ExpoMonde, the seminars and conferences, three major gatherings, theme days, and more than 200 community activities planned throughout the territory throughout the event’s 17 days.

Two new components: an large economic component aiming to provide a lasting economic heritage for Acadia of the Lands and Forests, and a sports component, which will include, among others, a golf tournament, figure skating, cycling rides, and the Jeux des Aînées de l’Acadie.

According to the Programming Director, Marc Beaulieu, the preliminary programming calls for celebration. “At exactly one year from the CMA 2014 opening, we are very proud to present a very diverse and rich programming, a wide range of activities made in the image of Acadia of the Lands and Forests and its population, proud to welcome Acadia of the World to the 5th CMA. It will be largly shaped by the communities of the three host regions and made possible thanks to the participation and involvement of hundreds of volunteers and local organizations. The CMA 2014 will be an event open to the world that celebrates a modern and inclusive Acadie that is rich of its roots and ready to take its place in the world community at the start of this new millennia”.

The Congrès mondial acadien 2014 insisted on presenting the preliminary programming at one year from the vent, thus allowing the local population and the tourists to plan their vacation within the 17 days of celebrations.

“For many, the Congrès mondial acadien is an opportunity to gather, to reunite with family, and to celebrate the Acadian people’s vitality together and the relations it maintains with friends from around the world. Therefore, we present to you a programming that is strongly supported by our towns’ and villages’ participation in their community component and that offers major events and moments of reflection on our common future. Of course, in May 2014, we will be publishing a reviewed and more detailed programming”, says Emilien Nadeau, Congrès mondial acadien 2014 President.

“The CMA team is doing an amazing job in building a programming based on community and the world. I will be there, on August 8, 2014 to send off the CMA and will take part with the other Acadian artists in the various activities right up to the New Beginning ceremonies on August 24. The team, volunteers and community have done a great job. The countdown continues! Only another year before the big event!” says CMA 2014 cultural spokesperson, Roch Voisine.

In order to get into each home, the programming will also be inserted in many newspapers of Acadia of the Lands and Forests this Fall.
