The CMA 2014 ends on a positive note!

Edmundston (NB) - December 17th, 2014 – This morning, the CMA 2014's organizers proudly presented the interim report of their activities, the "Analysis of the advertising value equivalent of the media coverage'' as well as the study on the economic and social impact of the 5th Congrès mondial acadien held in Acadia of the Lands and Forests last August 8 to 24.

This international event generated no less than 28.4 millions of new dollars in spinoffs on the host territory that includes: the northwestern region of New-Brunswick, the north of Aroostook County in Maine and Témiscouata in Quebec. Visitors in the area for the event expressed high levels of satisfaction of their stay in Acadia of the Lands and Forests (97.8%) and more than three tourists out of five (65.2%) already plan to come back in the area next year.

Émilien Nadeau, President of the CMA 2014, stated: "All of our numbers clearly demonstrate the significance of the Congrès mondial acadien 2014 in our territory and in Acadia as a whole. As it was said lately, this 5th World Congress allowed us to shift from an Acadia based on genetics towards an Acadia that is rather territorial and, now, an Acadia based on values. We can't forget the invaluable cooperation of the communities and everyone that believed in this ambitious dream. We can be proud of our accomplishments and the collective success of the CMA 2014."

The CMA 2014 gathered over 200 000 participants. It also was in the limelight of the media as it was listed in the top 20 of Canadian news for three weeks in August. For the period of May 15 to September 14 alone, the Congrès mondial acadien 2014 generated more than 2.8 millions of dollars in media spinoffs or in Acadia promotion through media.

Léo Paul Charest, Executive Director of the CMA 2014, said: "We have proved the doubters wrong! There is no disputing: the CMA 2014 is a complete success. The programming, the administration, the finances, the popular participation, the tourists, the Acadia of the World, the inclusive Acadia, the modern Acadia: all of the goals were achieved. It is now time to thank and congratulate our volunteers, our 50 communities, the members of our organizing committee, our president, Mr. Émilien Nadeau, and our fantastic team of employees who gave their all to showcase our know-how to the entire world. Hats off to the whole crew! Thanks and congratulations, my friends!"

But wait, there's more! Indeed, amongst the tangible legacy that will remain on the territory, we can't forget the CMA 2014's Economic Component that successfully created the Core Leadership Team of Acadia of the Lands and Forests where 40 leaders of the region committed themselves to continue regional and cross-border development.

The CMA 2014 organizers will officially submit the final report of the activities to the Société Nationale de l'Acadie next February upon dissolution of the organization and tabling of audited financial statements.
