Women's Summit: Everywhere, Women decide...Women Act!

Edmundston (N.B.) – The Congrès mondial acadien 2014 has recently concluded a partnership agreement with the Regroupement féministe du Nouveau-Brunswick (RFNB) to organize the Women's Summit. The Women's Summit Orientation Committee met for the very first time, in Edmundston, on March 4th and 5th. This event, which will bring together over 200 women, will be held March 17th to 19th, 2014, under the theme "Everywhere, Women Decide... Women Act!".

Sylvie Morin, President of the Regroupement féministe du Nouveau-Brunswick, is thrilled that the CMA 2014 has entrusted them with the task of organizing the Women's Summit. "We are enthusiastic about participating to the organization of the Women's Summit. We want to offer the women of Acadia and of the world a unifying event where they will be able to discuss, consult, celebrate and act."

In the image of Acadia of the Lands and Forests, the orientation committee is comprised of women from the three host regions of the Congrès mondial acadien 2014. They have recently initiated their work towards the organization of this 5th Women's Summit and they are committed to ensuring the event will be a resounding success.

The president of the Congrès mondial acadien 2014, Émilien Nadeau, is proud to acknowledge that the Acadian women and women from around the world will have a platform again, in 2014: "With this first meeting of the orientation committee, the Women's Summit joins the other summits to the programming of the Congrès mondial acadien 2014: the Grand Youth Rally, the 50 Years + Summit and the Economic Summit. This event will allow the women of our region to have discussions, on important issues of the day, with other women from various regions of the globe."

The Women's Summit is a unifying international event organized by women, for women, to debate on issues and challenges preoccupying them.

In re... The World Acadian Congress is a gathering held every five years which unites the Acadian diaspora from all over the world. Many activities are planned over a two week period, i.e. from August 8 to the 24, 2014. The event draws on the community's commitment and promotes the Acadian culture, heritage and amenities.
