Richard Holledge, the author of The Scattered, is a former newspaper editor and executive with several UK national newspapers including The Times and The Independent. He is a freelance journalist for the Wall Street Journal, The Times of London, New York International Times, Financial Times and the Gulf News, Dubai, writing primarily about the arts.  He lived in Canada and has visited Nova Scotia as a boy and few years ago. He and his wife are regular visitors to New Orleans and Louisiana. He has written several pieces about the city post-Katrina
